Finding Inspiration in Every Click!
Welcome to my online Oriental Rug Store! My name is Ben, and I'm excited to share with you a curated collection of-knotted Oriental rugs from around the globe. I began my journey with a Baluchi nomadic wool rug from Afghanistan, and over time, my collection has blossomed. Below, you’ll find a charming 3'x5' Hamadan rug that I'm lying on and the very first Oriental rug I ever purchased—a beautiful 100% wool Baluchi.

Our Story
Prior to 2016, I was introduced to the world of Oriental rugs through my father and his current wife from Iran. Over the years, they had traveled and brought back varies handwoven rugs for family in the United States. I've always had an entrepreneurial mindset and motivation to search for exciting business ideas.
One day, an Afghan Baluchi rug I owned, sparked my curiosity, sending me online in search of similar rugs.
One of the first sites I was introduced to when searching for Persian rugs was esalerugs.com, where you could find hundreds of Afghan Baluchs in all kinds of different patterns and designs, ranging from $68 up to $150 and maybe higher. If you purchased two, you could get an additional 10% off. This sounded like an exciting idea and besides, where else do you really see people selling handmade rugs?
My knowledge of Oriental rugs was completely non-existent at the time. I was purchasing these Afghan Baluchs, marketed as being made in Persia, Khorassan Province specifically.
I started out selling rugs locally, off of Marketplace, which has always been relatively helpful. Over the next year I migrated to selling on Etsy, which proved to have possibilities, but ended up being short lived as the Iranian Embargo was brought out of the shadows and the crackdown began on anything made from Iran or anything that looked like it. I struggled with Etsy as they would deactivate products, asking for proof of origin, which is very difficult when you're purchasing pre-owned rugs that were already in the country. The constant disputes with Etsy lead to being permanently banned from selling, which triggered my whole online reputation through reviews to be held hostage.
At this point in time, I realized that I would need to create my own platform and control my online reputation through hard work and quality customer service. We started our online store at BewyacGroup.com which is my legal business name, but later rebranded to ShopPersianRugs.com, which is much clearer to customers and online search engines as to our true motivations online. We have slowly continued to grow, adapt and exist in the unique niche of Oriental rugs, alongside major players in the US like ecarpetgallery.com, esalerugs.com and numerous other collectors, wholesalers and retailers. I don't see them as competition, but as inspiration to improve my business, expand my passion and share the beauty that Oriental rugs truly are!
